The 2012 Patriarch is deep purple in color. On the nose, rich, dense aromas of blackberries, leather, dried sage, cedar and black pepper rise from the glass. It is full-bodied with high tannin and acidity, yet on the palate the mouthfeel is soft and voluptuous. The fruit is rich and ripe without the slightest hint of jamminess. Cassis on the entry, hints of clove on the mid-palate, evolve into blackberry and coffee on the finish.
